Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s mentoring program allows experienced licensed professionals to transfer their skills and knowledge to aspiring and current professional members. Members of the advisory group provide recommendations on the development and implementations of Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Mentoring Program, and assist in matching qualified program applicants with suitable mentors.

This is an advisory group reporting to Council

Duties and Expectations

  • Advise and work with staff on setting goals and priorities regarding Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Mentoring Program;
  • Assist with finding suitable matches for program participants by contacting potential mentors;
  • Provide periodic reviews of the mentoring program and its effectiveness in achieving program objectives;
  • Assist with program promotion;
  • Attend scheduled meetings.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Be a professional member or a member-in-training in good standing with Engineers and Geoscientists BC;
  • Have knowledge of the Engineers and Geoscientists BC mentoring program and its benefits;
  • Being a current mentoring program participant is an asset.

Term of Office

  • Two year term;
  • Looking to fill 2 vacancies.

Average Time Commitment

Group members should expect:
  • Four to five meetings to be scheduled per year, approximately 2 hours in length;
  • Approximately 1 hour of preparation time to be required per meeting;
  • All meetings to be held at the Engineers and Geoscientists BC office in Burnaby;
  • Members who are unable to attend in person have the option of teleconferencing.
