BC Hydro - Engineers and Geoscientists BC Scholarships
With the future of engineering and earth science students in mind, BC Hydro and Engineers and Geoscientists BC have united efforts to offer the BC Hydro – Engineers and Geoscientists BC Scholarships. These scholarships are offered to second year engineering and earth science students and focus on encouraging students to continue with their goal of becoming professional engineers or geoscientists.
A total of 10 scholarships, each valued at $1,500, will be awarded to deserving second year students studying in accredited engineering programs or in geology, environmental geoscience, or geophysics programs at post-secondary institutions in BC. Students from all engineering and earth science disciplines may apply. Scholarship selection will be based on academic standing, professional or community involvement, a written statement, and the student’s resume.
The successful candidates will be notified in December 2017. The scholarships will be paid directly to the student upon confirmation of registration.
Completed applications must be received by 11:59 PM on Sunday, September 24, 2017.
- Applicants must have completed first year of engineering or earth science studies by August 31, 2017.
- Applicants must be full-time students in the current academic year.
- Applicants must be residents of British Columbia.
- Previously successful applicants who still qualify under the criteria above are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
- Incomplete or late applications will not be considered.

Section E: Community Involvement (12.5%)
Please describe the extracurricular and/or community activities that you have been involved with over the past three years. This may include volunteering, working on a student publication, leadership roles, fundraising, involvement with a student organization or any other enriching experience. Include the duration of the time that you participated in each activity and brief synopsis of the activity. *
Section F: Professional Involvement (12.5%)
Please detail your work experience related to the profession of engineering or geoscience and explain how it has furthered your interest in that profession. *

As a major energy company, BC Hydro enables its customers to adopt energy conservation behaviours and actions as a cornerstone of its business and now measures its success in terms of economic, environmental and social factors.
