Annual General Meeting (AGM)
Under the Engineers and Geoscientists Act, Engineers and Geoscientists BC holds an annual general meeting (AGM) of its members. This occurs in October, alongside our annual conference. Reports are provided by the president and the CEO on the activities of the past year, and the financial report is presented. At the meeting, members are provided with the opportunity to ask questions and make motions for consideration by Council. Motions may be proposed by registered professional members (P.Eng., P.Geo.) or by limited licensees (Eng.L., Geo.L.).
The date and location of this year’s annual general meeting is as follows:
99th Annual General Meeting
Saturday, October 20, 2018
Vancouver Convention Centre – East
8:30 AM–12:30 PM
All professional members and licensees are encouraged to attend and participate. Members-in-training are welcome to attend as observers. There is no charge to attend the annual general meeting. Pre-registration for the AGM is not required.
For more information, see the 2018 Annual Conference and AGM website.
The AGM provides an opportunity for members to participate in self-regulation by bringing forward motions for the consideration of Council.
If you submit your motion at least 30 days in advance (by September 20), you will benefit from it being published to members ahead of the meeting, in order to support informed debate on the issue you are raising.
To submit a motion for the AGM, you will need to provide the full text of your motion, along with some basic information about how it aligns with the association’s Strategic Plan and the motion’s importance. Advanced motions must be received no later than 5:00 PM on September 20, 2018.
For more information on the process, please read the motion submission guide.
If you’ve missed the September 20 deadline, you can still submit a motion from the floor at the AGM. All motions must be received prior to the deadline approved by the assembly (usually 10:00 AM on the day of the AGM).
For more information, please refer to the submission guide.
