30 by 30 Initiative
30 by 30 is a goal introduced by Engineers Canada to raise the percentage of newly licensed engineers who are women to 30% by the year 2030. Engineers and Geoscientists BC fully supports this goal and has been actively working since 2013 on a number of initiatives to support diversity in the professions. The development of a new action plan in further support of this goal is currently underway.
Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia is committed to both the retention of practising female engineering and geoscience professionals and increasing the participation of women in the professions. In support of this goal, the association’s work plan to date has focused on the recommendations delivered in 2013 by the Women in Engineering and Geoscience Task Force. The task force delivered 18 recommendations and 97% have been actioned.
