2018/2019 Candidates for Election to Council

Engineers and Geoscientists BC’s Bylaw 3 states that there are two ways by which a member or limited licensee can be nominated to stand for Council election: 1) by the Nominating Committee, or 2) in writing by any 25 or more members and/or limited licensees in good standing.

Election packages, including the candidate statements, will be made available to all members in September when voting opens, and the election count will take place on October 5, 2018. Those elected will take office at the Annual General Meeting on October 20, 2018.

Video for Presidential and Vice Presidential Candidates

Candidates running for the positions of President or Vice President will be able to include a short video as part of the candidate information presented to members. Inclusion of a video is optional for Presidential and Vice Presidential candidates and is being piloted for the 2018 election as a way to provide voting members with more information about candidates.

The association has an information webinar recording available for all those members interested in running for Council. The session provides information on Engineers and Geoscientists BC and its role, the role of Council, and the time commitment involved to serve on Council. An overview of the election process is also provided.

Important Dates

  • Wednesday, June 27, 2018
    Nominations by 25 members must be received at the association office by 5 PM.
  • Friday, July 13, 2018
    Nominees Statement of Candidacy, including Q&A submissions, must be received at the association office by 5 PM.
  • Friday, September 7, 2018
    Election package and ballots will be available online to all members by this date. Paper ballots available upon request.
  • Friday, October 5, 2018
    All ballots must be submitted and received by 12 PM.
Election results will be posted to the Engineers and Geoscientists BC website by Thursday October 11, 2018.
