The Electrical Engineer performs the conceptual and detailed design of building electrical systems and coordinate design, working drawings, and specifications with in-house design teams and construction managers. The Electrical Engineer acts as an Engineer of Record.


Project Delivery

  • Design and supervise the design of building electrical systems, such as power distribution, lighting, life safety systems, and communication systems and evaluate their effectiveness.
  • Coordinate design, working drawings, and specifications with project team.

Field Reviews

  • Conduct field reviews and building condition assessments.

Contract Administration

  • Provide information required to issue site instructions, contemplated change orders, and responses to contractor’s requests for information.
  • Understand, manage, reduce, and mitigate Contractual and Professional Liabilities.


  • Mentor and coach EITs and Designers.

Report Writing

  • Write reports on building systems, technical assessments, project design, and other analysis as required.

Stakeholder Management


  • Resolve/negotiate technical information with authorities having jurisdiction.

Project Close-out

  • Responsible for project closeout related to your field of practice.


  • 3–4 years of engineering experience in a multi-disciplinary environment, a minimum of 3 years North American experience.
  • University degree in electrical engineering from an accredited Canadian or USA University or proof of equivalency.
  • P.Eng. designation or working towards a P.Eng.
  • Interest in achieving or actively working towards a Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD) certification.
  • Experience with environmental/sustainable design is an asset.
  • Experience with institutional, retail, residential, and commercial projects.



  • Proven experience in power distribution, lighting, life safety systems design, and all other building systems.
  • Mastery of REVIT and how it applies to defined project phases.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, British Columbia Building Code, National Building Code, and other regulations and able to apply to projects in their respective jurisdictions.
  • Solid understanding of structured wiring and intelligent building concepts.
