Under the general supervision of the Technical Manager, the Office Engineer/Draftsperson supports the daily activities of the projects engineering and construction team. This position will be based on site, at our Kemano T2 tunnel project location. This is a remote work site with camp and flights provided.

Key Responsibilities

  • Generate construction working drawings for contractor’s engineering department;
  • Perform and maintain Owner required as built drawings;
  • Keep Contractor’s drawings updated;
  • Prepare 2D formwork and lift drawings;
  • Maintain and support field crews;
  • Manage surveys and calculate quantities;
  • Analyzes reference drawings, specifications, and other engineering data to determine best approach to complete drawings and related tasks;
  • Assist in on-site project setup if required;
  • Apply judgment and make decisions with respect to drawing and reference material interpretation;
  • Verify site reference conditions and measurements;
  • Perform additional assignments per supervisor’s direction;
  • Review and check sub-contractor drawing;
  • Use computer-assisted design (CAD) to create accurate sets of drawings from preliminary design concepts;
  • Ensure drawings and work plans are produced in accordance with relevant industry standards;
  • Assembly drawings to company standards; and
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • 5+ years of related experience in AutoCAD, take-offs, or 2D drawings;
  • Registration, or eligibility to register, as a professional engineer (P.Eng.) in BC, or registration as an engineer-in-training (EIT) is required.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in related field an asset;
  • Knowledge and strong experience with AutoCAD is a requirement;
  • Knowledge of survey processes and data to drawing transition;
  • Computer knowledge in MS Office
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and prioritize workload;
  • Knowledge of road construction, concrete structures, and or hydroelectric projects;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment;
  • Open to travel to job sites and project assignment; and
  • This position is based on site, in a remote work location. Current schedule is a 20&10 rotation schedule with camp and flights provided.
