Calgary Housing Company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the City of Calgary and is the City’s largest landlord providing an extensive portfolio of affordable housing options to 25,000 Calgarians. Calgary Housing Company (CHC) manages over 7500 homes in over 1000 buildings owned by the Province, The City and CHC. Our mission is to make life better for Calgarians through the provision of safe, affordable housing to low and moderate-income households.

Reporting to the President of CHC, a member of the Corporate Management Team, your strategic leadership and innovative approach supports the delivery of affordable housing to Calgarians. A best practice outcomes-focus you provide direction and oversight: 

  • Continuously improving your team’s program delivery and compliance to the company’s policies including safety, procurement and code of conduct.
  • Representing CHC administration to the Board of Directors and at various industry and political forums advocating for and leading policy change for infrastructure and asset management.
  • Developing and implementing strategic objectives, processes, policies and plans to ensure that CHC’s managed infrastructure is competitive and compliant to required standards and legislation.
  • Oversight of the Asset Management, Capital Delivery and Preventative Maintenance teams, you will forecast, budget and deliver capital budgets ensuring compliance to applicable codes and regulations.
  • Coordinating emergency preparedness to ensure staff and tenant safety.
  • Lead representative reporting to the CHC Board on the Infrastructure and Asset Management committee’s strategic progress of asset management and portfolio decision making.
  • Lead the multi-million-dollar capital investments; capital repair and regeneration program, new development, asset management plans.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Engineering with a minimum of 10 years direct work experience in residential construction that includes program development and delivery of residential/facility renovation and repair, redevelopment and/or facilities maintenance.
  • Previous work experience must also include 7 years of progressively senior supervisory and leadership.
  • A registration as a Professional Engineer in Canada, and current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) or licensure by the first day of work.
  • Extensive experience leading major construction projects, capital planning, asset management, project management, risk assessment procedures and real estate asset strategy.
  • A Master of Business Administration (MBA), Facility Management Professional (FMP), Certified Facility Manager (CFM) and/or Certified Property Manager (CPM), Project Management Professional (PMP) will be considered assets.
  • A solid track record of delivering high levels of service through a customer-centric approach whose values align with CHC values and is passionate about making life better every day for Calgarians.
  • Experience in the affordable housing sector and/or serving vulnerable populations is an asset.
