Reporting to the Senior Engineering Supervisor, Process Maintenance, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for improving upon and maintaining the asset health program to maximize equipment availability and reliability. The Reliability Engineer will work closely with all groups providing technical assistance on reliability projects and other initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures.
  • Perform inspections and analyze inspections reports on equipment as required to determine equipment health and requirements for predictive, preventative, and corrective maintenance.
  • Contribute to development, and continuous improvement, of equipment maintenance strategies and programs in collaboration with trades planners, trades, supervisors, and other reliability personnel for new and existing equipment, using Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) methodologies.
  • Create reports and work orders according to findings.
  • Contribute to the overall efficiency of the maintenance departments by performing other technical functions as assigned.
  • Work in accordance with applicable government regulations and Teck standards.
  • Conduct facilitated Root Cause Analyses (RCA) of significant production interruptions and Bad Actor assets.
  • Review weekly production losses with processing, operations, and maintenance personnel to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provide training and support to trades and operators participating in various reliability processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or equivalent, with 1–6 years of work experience in a related field.
  • Eligible to register, or registered, with the Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia.
  • A thorough understanding of Condition Monitoring techniques, RCM, Failure Modes/Effects Analysis (FMEA), and RCA is an asset.
  • Condition-based monitoring techniques, such as oil analysis, vibration analysis, and infrared thermography experience, is an asset.
  • SolidWorks, or AutoCAD proficiency is an asset.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite® package.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as effective interpersonal and problem solving abilities.
  • Strong focus on safety and personal responsibility—must be self-motivated.
  • A positive and flexible attitude is a must.
