A challenging and exciting opportunity exists for a Professional Engineer in the City of Delta’s Engineering Department.

Reporting to the Manager of Utilities, the successful candidate will coordinate and administer various utility projects related to the drainage, sewer, water, and solid waste utilities. Related functions include preparing requests for proposals and reports, managing projects, estimating and monitoring budgets, delivering presentations, and liaising with other departments, consultants, and various levels of Provincial and Federal resource agencies.

Qualifications

Your Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng.) is enhanced by excellent verbal and written communications skills and sound technical experience in utility planning, budgeting, design, construction, and operation. You will have a good understanding of municipal storm and sanitary sewers, water systems, drainage systems, pump stations, dikes, roadways, and solid waste systems. Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities combined with superior verbal and written communication skills are essential.  Desirable candidates must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Professional Engineer related to municipal systems, and the capability to effectively deal with the public, contractors and consulting engineers. Supervision of technical staff in a unionized environment will also be a function of this position. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence is required.

You must be a self-motivated team player and your ability to manage multiple initiatives in a fast-paced, changing environment will be essential to your success in this position.
