Reporting to the General Manager, Engineering and Public Works, the Director, Utilities, is responsible for leading City-wide initiatives by developing and advancing strategies in the realm of engineering and GIS. The Director is involved in significant regional and city priorities related to utilities, which includes liaising with other levels of government, utility authorities, stakeholders and the general public. This position will oversee key utility initiatives, operational processes, and related practices while also collaborating with the Engineering and Public Works Management Team to lead strategic master planning and business planning and reporting functions of the department.
The ideal candidate will have a university degree in a relevant discipline (business, public administration, engineering) or related discipline; a P.Eng. designation would be considered an asset. The preferred candidate will have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in municipal utilities with a minimum of 5 years’ management or supervisory experience, preferably in local or regional government. The ideal candidate will have track record of success in leading, engaging, internal and external stakeholders; the role requires excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
