About the Opportunity.

We are looking for a General Manager to take on the responsibility of delivering Cambie Thermal. Reporting to the joint venture management board of Corix and based in Vancouver, you will

  • Manage and direct business operations through an efficient use of resources (capital, people, equipment, space) required to develop and operate an efficient and successful Utility business
  • Manage the governance and project management process for the system to drive and deliver on the business strategy
  • Manage and oversee the development of strategic, business development, communications, recruitment, quality control (risk management), personnel training, and health, safety and environment initiatives
  • Develop and manage client, governmental, regulatory, public and prospective client relationships that supports and enhances our consent to operate
  • Works with the partnership group to implement strategies and actions emphasizing growth of the business through broadening services to existing and new clients
  • Oversees the operation of thermal, electrical, mechanical and plant automation systems
  • Leads directly or indirectly a safe, healthy and welcoming work environment for staff, contractors and customers
  • Supports the advancement of alternative energy technologies
  • Establishes and maintains financial return expectations as set in the Rate models
  • Directs and supports the project management, and engineering team
  • Manages all budgets with inputs from the finance team
  • Manages Cost of Service financial modelling outlooks with inputs from the Finance team
  • Performs other related duties as required

Who You Are

  • You have a bachelor’s degree in related field; engineering discipline preferred
  • You have 5 – 10 years of progressive management experience in a regulated or related industry
  • Demonstrated business development experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of BCUC and  Utilities Commission Act (UCA)
  • Familiarity with thermal energy regulatory requirements, including those of Technical Safety BC and the City of Vancouver
