The Utilities Operations Division of the Engineering and Regional Utilities Department is responsible for the construction, maintenance, and operations of the City’s underground infrastructure including, but not limited to: water supply and distribution, wastewater treatment and collection, and drainage, dyking, and irrigation for the City and Regional Utilities. This Division ensures that the City’s infrastructure is safe, well managed, efficient, effective, and meets all regulatory and legislative requirements in accordance with Council’s vision of the City “…to be the Hub of the Fraser Valley.” This Division will also help shape the future of the City and is viewed as a steward of the community that will attract and retain people to live, work, and play in the City of Abbotsford.
We are seeking a key member of our Utility Operations leadership team for the position of Manager, Water Distribution. Reporting to the Director, Utility Operations; the Manager is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water distribution infrastructure throughout the City. As the Manager, the scope of your role includes the planning and implementing of all maintenance programs for the 17 CUPE staff you will be leading. At times, this may be expanded to performing minor capital improvements or construction projects.
You have the ability to motivate, mentor, coach, and lead a diverse team of operational and maintenance staff. Your strong communication and interpersonal skills will allow you to build credible and trusted relationships with your team and throughout the organization.
- Degree in engineering or diploma in technology, or other related discipline;
- Professional designation as a P. Eng. or AScT.; and
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive related experience, with a minimum of 3 years in a leadership role.
