Key Financial Tools and How to Use Them. This one-day course is designed to introduce engineers to key financial tools used in evaluating the financial viability of projects. Every project of any significance requires a business case to justify it being funded. The key concepts of compounding, discounting, discount rates and terminal value will be presented. Building on those we will review key financial metrics such as net present value (NPV), internal rate of return (IRR), return on equity (ROE), return on invested capital (ROIC) and levelized cost.

On completion of the course program, participants will:
  • Understand and be able to calculate key financial metrics used in evaluating the financial viability of proposed investments
