Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector - Forest Roads & Crossings Seminar. This seminar is being delivered by the Association of British Columbia Forest Professionals and the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists.. The Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector - Forest Roads and the Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector - Crossings were created through a collaboration of both organizations. It establishes standards of professional practice for members of the ABCFP and APEGBC involved in the planning and design of forest roads and forest crossings.

This seminar will provide an overview of the Guidelines for Forest Roads and Crossings, specifically the roles and responsibilities that member s of both Associations have when carrying out work on Forest Roads and Crossings.  Information will be given on how professionals are to interact with regards to the planning and design of crossings and forest roads as well as their limitations.  Attendees will learn how to utilize these guidelines. In addition the seminar will reinforce how following these guidelines assist members in carrying out professional services in a manner which meets an appropriate standard of care in protecting public safety and the environment.

Revisions to the Guidelines for Professional Services in the Forest Sector – Crossings were recently approved by the Councils for the two associations in order to address various issues which have arisen since they were last revised in September 2008. These updated guidelines also include revisions made in responding to issues, which could be appropriately addressed in the guidelines, arising from the Forest Practices Board Report –Bridge Planning, Design and Construction, Special Investigation released in March  2014. The seminar will highlight areas where the guidelines have been updated and reinforce their impact on professional practice.

Importantly this training will assist licensees in practicing due diligence, by ensuring that they know the appropriate stages at which to involve different professionals on forest road and crossing projects will find this seminar . Those in the forest industry who engage professionals on forest road and crossing projects will benefit from attending. In addition Registered Professional Foresters, Registered Forest Technologists, Professional Engineers & Professional Geoscientists and others who are involved with forest crossings will find this seminar of real value.
