Note:
This seminar will demonstrate how to improve control loop performance not only through tuning, but also by diagnosing valve and process problems and interaction, incorrect control strategy, and also through novel monitoring techniques. Many examples from a wide variety of industries will be presented.

Instructor(s):

Ali Soltanzadeh, Ph.D.

Dr. Soltanzadeh joined BBA in 2011 with multidisciplinary experience in process control and simulation, industrial automation, sales and marketing, and management. He has extensive on-site and off-site experience with control strategy design, programming, and commissioning in the mining and metals, pharmaceutical, energy, petrochemical, recycling, and pulp and paper industries.

Michel Ruel, P.Eng.

Michel Ruel is  the Executive Director - Engineering Practice at BBA Inc., a Canadian consulting engineering firm. Michel obtained a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (Process and Automation) from Laval University in 1982 and started his career at Scott Paper Crabtree. He is a registered professional engineer, expert consultant and trainer, university lecturer, and author of several publications and books on instrumentation and control. For over 35 years, Michel has been solving unusual process control problems in more than 15 countries. He is the founding president of Top Control Inc., a global company specializing in process control optimization, performance improvement, alarm management, and process control  software development. In 2011, BBA integrated the expertise of Top Control Inc. in its continued pursuit of expansion.
