Note:
Strategic Energy Management: A Holistic Approach to Managing Energy in Your Organization Seminar. Managing energy successfully in an organization goes beyond simply knowing which equipment to buy and how to properly set controls. Instead, effectively managing the energy performance of BC's facilities requires thinking holistically about the organizational, technical and behavioural aspects of energy management.

The session is designed for individuals who are looking for an in-depth look at strategic energy management in a BC organization. With his 25 years of experience helping organizations save energy, Robert Greenwald will provide the theory, tools and real world energy management examples, covering the following topics:
  • Strategic Energy Management: assessment and planning
  • Organizational: exploring management and tracking systems
  • Technical: identifying projects and building the business case
  • People: championing competency building and staff engagement
This workshop will provide attendees with a combination of theory and practical application of energy management best practices. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how to meet the needs of employers and clients in the field of sustainability and energy management systems. They will learn to apply energy management principles, standards and best practices effectively in professional practice.

Instructor:

Robert Greenwald, P.Eng. is the President of Prism Engineering, a BC consulting firm that specializes in energy efficiency analysis and upgrades.

With over 25 years of engineering experience, Robert has developed high level Energy Plans, determined energy management opportunities for electrical and mechanical systems, designed building upgrades of HVAC and lighting systems, and has acted as an Energy Coach to support and sustain organizational Energy Management programs.  He has completed hundreds of energy audits of commercial and institutional facilities and has focused his career in the energy management field.

With a genuine passion for training, Robert has facilitated over 200 energy management workshops.  He has developed, prepared, and delivered training programs on behalf of Natural Resources Canada’s Office of Energy Efficiency, BC Hydro, Manitoba Hydro, and the Building Owners and Managers Association of BC (BOMA BC).  He also developed an on-line training program for BOMA BC.  This flexible and comprehensive course was designed to allow building operators to better identify energy savings opportunities and implement changes in their facilities, and is now available in both official languages Canada-wide.

Robert has an honours degree from the University of Waterloo in Mechanical Engineering, and an MBA from the University of British Columbia.
