Please join the Richmond/Delta Branch for a dinner presentation on the "Delta Irrigation Enhancement Program". Please see below for more details on this event.

Farmers in Delta have been using Fraser River water for irrigation since the early 1900’s.  Over the past two decades Delta staff have allowed fresh water from  Fraser River  to pass through flood boxes and  enter the local ditch system. However, there are a number of areas in the community that have had insufficient irrigation water supply, resulting in poor productivity.

The new South Fraser Perimeter Road impacted about 90 ha of agricultural land in Delta.  Irrigation system improvements were required to address this impact and improve the water supply availability to assist in adapting to our changing climate.  The Gateway program has constructed new pump stations, channels and control structures to assist with agricultural irrigation. This presentation will provide an overview of the Delta irrigation system along with the design and implementation of the enhanced system.
