APEGBC Tri-City Branch Breakfast Seminar. Topic: "Construction Contract Tips for the Current Market: From Tenders to Design-Build".

Join us for an informative presentation and Q&A session on ‘Construction Contract Tips for the Current Market: From Tenders to Design-Build’, featuring John Haythorne, Karen Martin and Ryan Chalmers of Dentons. In this presentation, we will canvas the most problematic areas of preparing tender and RFP documentation, we will review the latest warnings from the courts and we will provide you with tips to help you create an effective procurement and contract for your clients.  We will also offer some thoughts on hot topics in dispute resolution, including lessons learned from the UK on adjudication.

Speakers:

John Haythorne, P.Eng., Partner, is the P3 Team Leader of Dentons Canada, active both in Vancouver and at the National level. He practices in the areas of construction, engineering and infrastructure, with special emphasis on negotiating, drafting and advising on contracts.  John is a past President of APEGBC and has served on the National Canadian Council of Professional Engineers.

Karen Martin, Partner, practices in the areas of construction, infrastructure, P3 and dispute resolution, providing strategic legal advice to minimize risk during procurement and construction.  Karen also advises on the preparation of construction contracts to assist in the avoidance of disputes, and during the construction phase she helps clients to develop pro-active solutions to project issues.

Ryan Chalmers, Partner, practices in the areas of construction, engineering and infrastructure, with a special emphasis on negotiating, drafting and advising on contracts.  Prior to joining Dentons, Ryan was in-house legal counsel to SNC-Lavalin’s Transportation Division based in Vancouver.
