In celebration of National Engineering and Geoscience Month, the Tri-City Branch of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC) along with Douglas College is hosting our Second Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Contest on Saturday, March 1st, 2014.

National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM) is an annual initiative to raise awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions across Canada. This month-long event is meant to highlight the various academic and career choices in these professions while reminding the public about the important role that these professions play in our society.

As part of NEGM, we would like to provide your students with the opportunity to utilize our bridge Building Kits as an in-class activity. The bridge can be built by one student or a team (maximum of 4 students). The work done on background research and fabrication by each student could serve as a basis of an exciting applied science or physics project in the Structures area for a grade or class.

Students who have completed their bridges before March 1st, 2014 would be eligible to enter our Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Contest. Concurrent with the Contest, there will be fun activity/information booths from APEGBC, Douglas College, and our event sponsors, so that the students can learn about Engineering and Geoscience.
