Please join the Vancouver Island Branch for their dinner presentation on Nanotechnology - Current Applications and Future Prospects. For more details on this event please click below.

In the past several years, there has been much discussion about the potential for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology. Rapidly, some of this potential is being realized. This talk will attempt to introduce what Nanoscience/Nanotechnology is (and what it is not), how we observe and fabricate at the nano-scale (measured in billionths of a meter), highlight some applications that have been proposed for this technology, and discuss a few concerns that have been raised about its use.

Brian Dick received his Ph.D. from the University of Alberta studying novel thin film deposition processes, and a post-doc at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory with a focus on carbon nanotubes and MEMS sensors.

Currently, he is Chair of the Physics/Engineering/Astronomy Department at Vancouver Island University and CEO/Co-Founder of Aurora NanoDevices Inc.
