Speaker:

Mateo Ocejo.Mateo Ocejo, P.Eng., Director of Net Zero Waste Group of Companies, has over 17 years of project management experience in heavy industrial and environmental projects. He has managed engineering efforts in excess of 20 personnel and on-site construction efforts up to $10 million (US D) in contract value and 100,000 direct labour man-hours.

Over the past 10 years, Mateo has focused his efforts on developments in the solid waste industry, specifically as they relate to composting. He has on-site experience with all principal composting technologies on the market and has consulted with multiple clients and municipalities on potential process and operational improvements. A focus has now been placed on the GORE™ Cover Technology and Mateo has been recognized as an expert in the design and construction of this process technology.

Net Zero Waste Inc. now has an operating and ownership role in 4 licensed and approved composting facilities within BC. With zero odor complaints and a sold out end product, NZW is setting the bar for quality and process control as it relates to organic waste treatment.

Details:

It is now possible to pull the largest chunk of your waste stream (organics) out of the landfill and make a valuable end product for your community. This presentation will highlight how to get your municipality started with a composting pilot program for as little as $45/tonne. Pilot projects for areas like the CVRD (Comox Valley Regional District) will be highlighted where it cost less to process organics on-site than it did to haul and process at the closest licensed facility.

Similar situations exist from the Kootenays to Salt Spring Island. In Comox, a program is growing and the municipality is saving money in the process. Opportunities for downstream improvements from community gardens to waste heat energy capture for greenhouses will also be discussed.
