This one-day seminar will introduce the Earned Value Management EVM theories and best practices every project management practitioner should know in order to monitor and forecast project performance successfully. This seminar will help attendees learn how to apply Earned Value tools and techniques for increased control and successful delivery of projects.
 
Overview
 
More than ever, organizations are depending on good project management practices to deliver new products, services, systems and facilities. Many are realizing that successful projects – that produce quality results,and are on time and on budget – require a unique set of project management competencies to monitor project performance.  In other words, we want to have quantitative and fact-based answers to questions like:
  • How are we doing on the project?
  • What did we get for the money we spent?
  • Is there enough money left in the budget to finish the project?
  • Will we finish on time?
 
The concept of Earned Value Management (EVM) originated in the 1960’s in the defense industry to integrate project cost, schedule and scope to provide an objective way of measuring project performance and predicting future project outcomes.
 
This one-day seminar will introduce the EVM theories and best practices every project management practitioner should know in order to monitor and forecast project performance successfully. This seminar will help attendees learn how to apply Earned Value tools and techniques for increased control and successful delivery of projects. Benefits of EVM and its limitations in the project environment will be discussed. The practical techniques and the principles described are applicable to projects of any size. Examples will be used throughout the seminar to help illustrate the techniques and concepts presented. The attendees will be put into small groups to simulate a team environment to apply Earned Value techniques to monitor and forecast project cost and schedule.
 
Who Should Attend
 
This seminar is intended for professionals involved in planning, executing, and monitoring and controlling projects that are looking for ways to better track project costs and schedule, monitor overrun, and forecast project spending and timing. It assumes a basic understanding of project management, but specific knowledge of project management techniques is not required.

Clement’s experience includes process improvement, project management, supply chain optimization, e-business custom software implementation, system planning and integration, technology migration and industrial process automation.  He has managed projects of various sizes for local and international clients in the business and manufacturing sectors to deliver highly successful, business-driven technology applications. His practical experience in project management will provide seminar attendees with a pragmatic view of how successful projects are run and help avoid the pitfalls of the not-so-successful ones.
