This free event (non-perishable food donation requested, but not required) will have informational and activity booths from UNBC’s Environmental Engineering students, ASTTBC, NTES, APEGBC, as well as geotechnical displays sourced from local firms and minerals from the local area.
The main event will be our 18th Annual Ultimate Bridge Building Contest.  The goal is to pre-build the strongest bridge possible out of 100 standard popsicle sticks and white glue. The Central Interior Branch is currently constructing a new ‘crusher’ rig this year that promises to showcase structural, mechanical and electrical engineering expertise as well as making the testing and ultimately the destruction of the bridges even more exciting!
There are 5 competition categories: primary, intermediate, secondary, adult and adult professional.  There are 1st, 2nd and 3rd prizes for all categories as well as an aestetics prize.
The Central Interior Branch encourages all members to invite their friends, families, co-workers and other organizations they may belong to enter a bridge. Entries can be by individuals or teams. Let’s make this our biggest event yet!
As an added incentive the Central Interior Branch of APEGBC has challenged our colleagues in ASTTBC to see which organization can enter more bridges into the adult professional category.  Let’s make APEGBC proud!
This event will showcase the bridge building innovation of our local students, adults and professionals alike and we hope to see many of you there!
