This dinner will include an informative presentation on the geology, geochemistry, and remediation of the Britannia Mine in Squamish, BC.

Dr. Steve Atkin, P.Geo., is currently an independent consultant in geochemistry based in Vancouver and a sessional instructor at the University of British Columbia and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Steve has over 35 years of experience in mining and the environmental impacts of mining in base and precious metal deposits, coal, oil sands, lithium brines and pegmatites, diamonds, as well as disturbances resulting from construction activities at sites around the world. His primary focus has been in dealing with the characterization, prediction, and prevention of acid, neutral, and alkaline rock drainage and metal leaching.
