This event is part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); an annual celebration of engineering and geoscience across Canada. The goal of this event is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life.

Grade 5 to Grade 9 Teachers - this is an excellent applied science or physics project for your classroom!   Enter as a class, small team or individually. All entrants will receive a certificate, and a chance to win one of the many cash prizes (& more)!
Bridges must be built using a maximum of 100 wooden Popsicle sticks and regular white all-purpose glue. Popsicle sticks must be left whole. A sheet of construction paper may be used for the deck of the bridge, which must be capable of having a matchbox car rolled across it.  The car is approximately 35 mm wide and 15 mm high. The bridge must clearly span a 500 mm gap. The load is applied at the top of the bridge, near the center, using a specially designed loading device that measures the load at failure.
Workshop on how to build bridges from Popsicle sticks will be held on Saturday, February 14, 2015 at the Surrey Campus of Kwantlen Polytechnic University, 12666 72nd Ave, Surrey.
Please note: If you are unable to attend the workshop and would like a materials kit mailed to you make sure to include your full mailing address during the online registration process.

Please register online by Feb 20th, 2015.
