The Minoru Complex is a part of a major new capital building program, which has been launched by the City of Richmond in the Minoru Civic Precinct to address current and future community needs for recreation, sport and other community needs. The Minoru Complex will replace and expand services provided at Minoru Aquatic Centre, Minoru Place Activity Centre and the former Minoru Pavilion.

The Minoru Complex is a 110,000 sq.ft. facility that consists of a 69,000 sq.ft. aquatic centre, a 33,000 sq.ft. older adult centre and a 8,000 sq.ft. sports field support component. It is designed to LEED® Gold Standards and as part of the target, the project will aim to achieve 10 points from the LEED® Energy and Atmosphere Optimize Energy Performance criteria (~24% better than code) or greater if waste heat or renewable energy sources can be further optimized.

The project is scheduled for completion in the Winter of 2017 with capital funding in the amount of $79,600,000. The facility will include a commercial kitchen, a cafeteria, change rooms, multi-purpose rooms, games room, fitness center, an event center, a fire lounge, as well as some administrative office spaces. Public Art will be represented by two distinct art pieces, and with integrated public art into the building design.
