Please join the Victoria Branch for a dinner presentation on the CRD's Sustainable Development Strategy. For more details on this event please click below.

The CRD Regional Sustainability Strategy (RSS) heralds the need for a significant shift from a ‘business as usual’ approach to one which will be bold and courageous enough to effectively meet the many challenges ahead for the region and the planet. A review and consultation process launched as part of a 5 year review process of the Regional Growth Strategy (2003) identified new and pressing challenges for the region – climate change being paramount. While deep concern regarding the over-arching impacts of climate change is the driver behind RSS policies and actions, sustainability is the ‘glue’ that connects different initiatives.

As Engineers and Geoscientists, we will not only be in a position to influence the design criteria and concepts, but also be challenged to deliver new projects to meet the broad overall objectives and vision of the RSS. This event provides attendees with an opportunity to learn about the RSS and discuss some of the precepts and challenges Engineers and Geoscientists will be asked to solve to shape development in a sustainable manner.
