The APEGBC Science Games is a team based event which allows students from grades 1-6 to explore the exciting side of science through hands-on challenges. For more details on this event and how to register, please click below.
How to register your team(s) for the 2016 APEGBC Science Games:
  • Step 1 - Reserve a spot for your team(s) online: Click on the “Register” button at the bottom of the page. At this stage you are only reserving a spot. Please note:  There are some details about your team which you will need to know before reserving a spot for them. Please see below for a list of these details.
  • Step 2 - Submit your Photo and Video Release Forms: A parent and/or guardian for each student member of your team must complete an online Photo and Video Release FormEach team has 30 days from the date of their reservation to submit all of the Photo and Video Release Forms for their team.
  • Step 3 - Team Registration Confirmed: APEGBC will send you an email confirmation once all of the Photo and Video Release Forms for your team have been submitted. Your team registration is not complete until you receive a confirmation email from APEGBC.
Please note: As in previous years, each school/group will only be able to register a maximum of 2 teams in each division. For example, the maximum number of teams that School A can register would be two teams in Division 1 and two teams Division 2.

When reserving a spot for a team, make sure you have the following information:
  • Name of adult team leaders (There should be one adult team leader for each team registered for the APEGBC Science Games)
  • The email address for your adult team leader(s)
  • First and last names of all your student team members
  • Name of your group/organization (ex. school, Girl Guide group, etc.)
  • Full mailing address for APEGBC to send Science Games Work-at-Home Activity Instructions
About the APEGBC Science Games
The APEGBC Science Games is an interactive science event for students from grades 1-6. This interschool event is organized by The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of British Columbia (APEGBC) as part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month. The goal of this event is to provide a fun environment where students work together as a team to showcase their science talent, and promote an interest in science education and careers in scientific fields. 

Teams
Each team should consist of 4-5 students and one coach who must be an adult, such as a teacher, parent or Girl Guide/Scout Leader. The coach must be present on the day of the event. Team registration costs $25 per team.

The Challenge
Students are placed into two divisions for this event :
Division 1: Grades 1 - 3 (Science Games activities run from 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM)*
Division 2: Grades 4 - 6 (Science Games activities run from 12:45 PM - 4:45 PM)*

Activities at the Science Games​:
  • Work-at-home Events: These are made in advance and brought to the Science Games for testing and judging or practiced in advance and performed on the day of APEGBC’s Science Games.
  • Mystery Events: These are solved the day of the Science Games and no pre-planning is needed.
