APEGBC is hosting a Student and Industry Night on Thursday, March 10, 2016 at UBC. This fun and casual evening provides a great opportunity for industry professionals to share their knowledge, career anecdotes and advice with engineering and geoscience students. It's also a great opportunity to socialize and network with fellow engineers.


6:30 PM - 7:00 PM: Registration
7:00 PM -7:45 PM: Presentations
7:45 PM - 9:00 PM: Networking

Registration will take place starting at 6:30 PM in the main atrium of the Earth Sciences Building at the University of British Columbia. Industry members who are unable to arrive in time for the presentations at 7:00 PM are welcome to arrive at 7:45 PM for the networking portion.


Dave Kachman, P.Eng.
User Experience Designer, OpenRoad

Dave graduated from the University of Alberta in 2004 with a bachelors of science in Computer Engineering.

Since graduation, Dave has worked in the remote sensing industry in Calgary focusing on user interface design, developing data processing applications, and creating visualization software. After a move to Vancouver to be closer to the mountains and the ocean, he gained extensive experience in front-end web development before focusing primarily on User Experience design.
He has worked on improving experiences for such clients as TransLink, Ministry of Justice, CBC, Experience Music Project, Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver, BC Courthouse Libraries, Transportation Investment Corporation, BC Hydro, Goldcorp, ICBC, VanCity, and Pokémon.

Venue/Parking Information

This event will take place in the Earth Sciences Building at UBC. The closest parking lot is the West Parkade. Pay parking is available at UBC's evening rates. Please see the UBC map for parking and building locations.
