Personal branding involves more than effective networking and self-promotion using social media, it includes leveraging your experience, talents and unique skill-set to differentiate yourself in a manner that will attract brand supporters, advocates and champions. Most engineers and geoscientists define their brand in terms of their technical expertise and specialized knowledge; the most successful however, also utilize their personal values and passion to differentiate themselves in a more distinctive and memorable manner.

Beyond building a strong personal brand, engineers and geoscientists are also realizing that the skill of business development is essential not only for maintaining existing clients and securing new work, but also for moving into senior leadership roles. Industry trends are revealing that non-technical business developers are on the decline. Engineers and geoscientists face the reality of not only doing the work but also selling it. Understanding the business development process and learning the associated skills to secure new work, retain existing clients and increase scope on existing projects are becoming the new core competencies.

After attending the Branding/BD workshop, you will be able to:
  • Develop a powerful personal brand.
  • Leverage your brand to achieve higher levels of success and advance your career.
  • Creating  a personal Unique Value Proposition (UVP).
  • Sell and market your services and expertise by differentiating you and your firm on value.
  • Leverage existing relationships in your network to secure new work and obtain referrals.
  • Reach decision makers and economic buyers and avoid internal business blockers.
  • Know when to say no and stop pursuing RFP’s and competitive bids that weaken your brand and reduce fees.
  • Lead clients to make an informed buying decision that creates satisfaction and loyalty.
Ralph’s workshop is interactive and hands-on; you will acquire the skills to present yourself and your firm in a professional, logical and non-manipulative manner and secure profitable business based on your value proposition and by building strong relationships.
