Participants will be introduced to topics in water quality modeling and optimization of water distribution and supply systems.

Participants will be introduced to the following topics:

  • Water Quality Standards - Regulations, Best Practices and Industry Norms
  • Understand Mixing in the Storage Reservoirs to Determine Their Impact on Water Quality
  • Develop a Water Quality Field Test Work Plan including Bottle Test and Wall Test Procedures
  • Investigate Various Water Quality Remedial Options (Flushing, Looping, Modified Pumping/Storage Operations, etc.)
  • Determine Frequency and Duration of Any Required Flushing Operations
  • Develop Recommendations to Optimize Water Quality within a Water Distribution and Supply Systems
  • Limitations of Water Quality Models
Prerequisites: A basic level of proficiency in EPANET is assumed and a fundamental understanding of the operation of water distribution and supply systems is expected.

To reinforce concepts learned during the course, participants will engage in hands-on EPANET tutorials for each section of the training.

The Speaker
