Engineers and engineering processes are evolving from traditional paper drawings, documents and processes to paperless practices. Not just individuals, but departments, organizations, and firms. Does it sound impossible? You aren't alone. Many engineers find comfort in their paper based systems and have a harder time picturing all of their practices happening electronically. Join Greg to learn the benefits of going paperless and the road map organizations are currently using to get there.

In this session you will learn:
  • The steps to go from paper based to paperless systems and processes
  • How to implement digital engineering stamps and seals
  • Converting paper to digital
  • How to manage the exponential amount of electronic content for each project including version control and lifecycle governance to decrease errors and liability
  • Moving from CAD as a drafting board to 3D and BIM models
  • Engineering collaboration and current challenges
If you want to reduce costs and errors associated with having a mix of paper and electronic processes and systems, join us to learn what it would take to get there.

Who Should Attend

Directors and Senior Managers of Engineering, Operations, Quality Assurance and Document Control.

Any engineers or geoscientists who want to reduce paper accumulation and learn more about digital content.

Greg Van Wormer
Director of ECM & Engineering Solutions for VersaFile.com

Greg Van Wormer is the Director of ECM and Engineering Solutions for VersaFile.com. He has spent the last 30 years in engineering and construction as a lead mechanical designer and provider of technology solutions for Owner Operators and EPCM firms. He has extensive experience with McLaren Software, FileNet, AutoDesk, MicroStation, 3D Plant Design, SAP, Maximo, and the variety of other engineering design and construction applications used to operate and maintain plants and facilities. He has not only been involved in the selection process, but in the implementation, migration, integration, and training of each solution. His experience spans many industries including highly regulated industries like Oil, Gas, Pharma, and Utilities but also Pulp and Paper and Building Products.

Recently, Greg has worked with engineering groups in the management of data and documents across the complete project and operational lifecycle. This involves moving entire engineering and operations departments from paper and basic electronic formats to managing all engineering processes and content electronically. Security and compliance are essential while maintaining ease of use for users. These components become even more critical when providing for remote workers, outside contractors, vendors, and construction groups, but are areas in which he excels.
