Mr. Bob Stewart, alongside his council update on current initiatives will be taking questions in regards to any current APEGBC Affairs.

Speakers

Bob Stewart, P.Eng.
Vice President, APEGBC

R.P. (Bob) Stewart, P.Eng., is the Principal Engineer in Electrical, Generation Engineering at BC Hydro. Previously, Mr. Stewart worked as divisional manager in various departments at BC Hydro, as well as senior maintenance and operations services manager at GM Shrum Generation Station. Mr. Stewart has volunteered with APEGBC in various capacities, including serving as an Experience Reviewer, Member and Assessor with the Competency-Based Application Assessment Team and as a member of the EIT Competency-Based Application Group.

Mr. Stewart earned his bachelor degree in electrical engineering from the University of British Columbia in 1981. He has received awards recognizing his work and community service, including the Bob Elton Safety by Design Award and the Ken Spafford Mentorship Award.

 

Dr.Marten Geertsema, P.Geo., P.Ag.
Reseach Geomorphologist

Marten is a Research Geomorphologist in the Northern Interior Forest Region, as well as an adjunct professor at UNBC. Marten is involved in numerous interdisplinary and collaborative research projects that include the disciplines of geomorphology, natural hazards, ecology, and climate change. 

Marten is interested in applying geological tools to forest science issues. His primary study focus is on landslides and terrain analysis. He is also interested in the effects of climate change on natural hazards, and therefore studies past and present hazard regimes. Marten is currently studying outburst floods, low-gradient slides, and long runout landslides and their impacts on forest management.
