Consultation on Corporate Regulation

APEGBC will be holding a special presentation and discussion regarding the topic of corporate practice and the potential regulation of organizations that practice engineering and geoscience. This is part of an ongoing consultation effort with members and stakeholders, and you are invited to learn about the issues and considerations involved in APEGBC’s evaluation of corporate practice and regulation, and to provide consultation into this important issue.

Council established an Advisory Task Force on Corporate Practice to guide the processes of exploration and evaluation, and member and stakeholder consultation. The Task Force is conducting a comprehensive review of the issue, consisting of: the history of corporate regulation, associated legislation, and an assessment of existing regulatory models in Canada and elsewhere. After considering all input, the Task Force will deliver a final recommendation to Council in spring 2017. At that point, Council will then consider whether or not to seek regulatory authority over corporate practice in BC.

The presentation serves as an opportunity to ask questions about the issues at hand, as evaluated in the Task Force’s Discussion Paper and companion webinar on corporate practice.  For more information on this topic and consultation opportunities, please visit our corporate practice webpage.
