The East and West Kootenay Branches of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists (APEGBC) are partnering to organize a one-day field trip to Kimberley to visit the Kimberley underground mine and the SunMine solar photovoltaic generating facility. For more information, please see below.

A chartered bus will be leaving from Nelson and meeting East Kootenay members at the Kimberley SunMine to begin the walking tour.

The Underground Mining Railway is located underneath the Rocky Mountain Trench in the city of Kimberley and it leads to the Sullivan Mine. The train tour goes through the Mark Creek valley, and then takes you underground towards the mine. The walking tour will visit the Sullivan Mine Powerhouse for a guided tour of the huge compressors and generators that powered the mine.
