NEGM'16 Popsicle Stick Bridge Buidling Competition

This event is part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); an annual celebration of engineering and geoscience across Canada. The goal of this event is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life.

The APEGBC Northern Branch and Hatch Lapointe, are proud to host the 5th Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition in Kitimat, BC.  This fun and creative event introduces children from our Northern BC Communities (including Haida Gwaii, Hazelton, Kitimat, Prince Rupert, Smithers, Terrace, and the surrounding areas) to the field of engineering.   

Contest Format

The contest is open to groups and individuals in Kitimat, Terrace, Prince Rupert, Hazelton, Smithers, Haida Gwaii, and the surrounding areas in the categories listed below:

  • Category 1: Elementary school grades 4 & 5
  • Category 2: Elementary school grades 6 & 7
  • Category 3: High School grades 8, 9 & 10
  • Category 4: High School grades 11 & 12
All contests will recieve a certificate of participation. There is no team size limit, but teams must have an adult sponsor.
