NEGM'16 Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition

This event is part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); an annual celebration of engineering and geoscience across Canada. The goal of this event is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life. The contest goal is to construct the strongest bridge possible using only 100 Popsicle sticks and the white glue provided. Ties will be decided by bridge weight. Some specification for the bridges are included in the contest rules; otherwise the design of the bridge is left to the competitors. There is no limit on the size of a team, but each team must have an adult sponsor to register.

Categories

  • Open: K, Grades 1 & 2, and others (including Teachers and Parents)
  • Junior: Grades 3 - 5
  • Intermediate: Grades 6 - 8
  • Senior: Grades 9 - 12

9:00 AM: Junior and Open Category Begins
12:30 PM: Intermediate and Senior Category Begins
