We are hosting a student and industry night at the University of Northern British Columbia in Prince George. This fun and casual evening provides a great opportunity for industry professionals to share their knowledge, career anecdotes, and advice with engineering and geoscience students. It's also a great opportunity to socialize and network with fellow professionals.

Schedule

  • 6:30 PM – 6:45 PM: Registration and refreshments
  • 6:45 PM – 7:15 PM: Engineers and Geoscientists BC presentation
  • 7:15 PM –7:45 PM: Panel discussion
  • 7:45 PM – 9:00 PM: Networking 

Complimentary appetizers, tea, and coffee will be served at this event.

Presentation

Engineers and Geoscientists BC staff will deliver a presentation about the association. Topics covered will include student involvment and requirements to register as an engineer-in-training (EIT) or professional engineer (P.Eng.).

Panelists

A panel of Engineers and Geoscientists BC members will discuss topics relevant to students including career planning, volunteer involvment, and education after graduating.

Warren Grafton, P.Geo.

Hydrogeologist, Western Water Associates

Warren Grafton was born, raised, and educated in Prince George, BC. He graduated from UNBC's Physical Geography program in 2010 and then studied geology at the University of Victoria to fulfil the courses required to attain his professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) designation. Warren now runs northern operations for Western Water Associates, Ltd. and specializes in groundwater supply and contaminated sites.

Mike Mason, EIT

Automation Specialist, Wolftek Industries

Mike Mason graduated from the University of Victoria with an electrical engineering degree and has spent the last five years living in Prince George where he programs and commissions equipment for sawmills. Outside of work, Mike is the chair of Engineers and Geoscientists BC's Central Interior branch where he enjoys volunteering at local events. Mike has close ties with UNBC as he recently graduated from the MBA program.
