More than just black rock: volcanism of the Kamloops group! While walking through Kenna Cartwright Park we will explore the varied styles of volcanism displayed by this part of the Eocene Kamloops Group volcanics. This volcanism will be considered within the broader context of the Kamloops-Challis volcanic belt and the tectonic evolution of North America at that time.

This event is family friendly and will be on easy to moderate difficulty hiking trails. TRU geology and engineering students are also welcome. Good shoes or boots are required. Bring water and a lunch for this 2-3 hour event with a picnic stop.
