Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition

Cost: Free for all middle school participants.
At the door registration: $15 for all open category entries.

The Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of BC (APEGBC), Victoria Branch, is proud to host their inaugural National Engineering and Geoscience Month Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM) is a celebration of engineering and geoscience held every year in March. This month-long event promotes awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, highlights career choices in these fields, and reminds the public of the many ways in which engineering and geoscience touch everyday life. Please see below for more details.


10:00 AM–10:30 AM: Check-in and introductions
10:30 AM–1:00 PM: Bridge testing
1:00 PM–1:30 PM: Lunch (pizza lunch for all registered participants)
1:30 PM–4:00 PM: Bridge testing
4:00 PM–4:30 PM: Closing and awards

*Bridges will be tested in the order of ticket number (order that entrants were registered), an approximate testing time will be provided. If an award winner is not present during the ceremony their award will be delivered to their school or registration address.

Contest Format

The contest has two categories for entry, one for middle school students in the Greater Victoria area (Grades 6 to 8), and one open category for other students, the public, or APEGBC members that would like to build and test their bridge.
