First, the Engineers and Geoscientists BC Student Program Coordinator will give a brief overview of the registration process to become a geoscientist-in-training (GIT) or professional geoscientist (P.Geo.). Afterwards, professional geoscientists will present on their experiences in the field.
This event is meant for SFU earth science students. However, students from other schools or departments are invited to attend. Online registration is required for this event.
Project Hydrogeologist, Lorax Environmental Services
Laura-Lee Findlater, P.Geo., is a hydrogeologist with over 12 years of experience in the mining industry. Ms. Findlater graduated in 2001 from UBC with a B.Sc. (Hons) in geological sciences and derives most of her professional experience from working at local firms providing environmental consulting to mining proponents and regulators. She has worked on mining projects in Australia, Chile, Canada, and the USA. Her recent project experience includes environmental assessments and permitting of underground and open pit metal and coal mines in BC and Yukon.
V.P. Exploration, Northern Superior Resources Inc.
Dan is a professional geoscientist (P.Geo.) with a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in geology from the University of Alberta. For the last 25 years, he has been exploring for oil and gas, gold, copper, tungsten, coal, and gemstones in Canada, USA, Mexico, Russia, Mongolia, China, Laos, and Vietnam. He is based in Port Coquitlam and is currently employed as VP Exploration for Northern Superior Resources (gold/silver/copper in Ontario and Quebec).
