Unique Features of the Course

This course provides comprehensive introduction to reliability engineering, maintenance optimization, and engineering asset management. It includes case studies and demonstrations of related software packages. Group discussions will be conducted.

Dr. Zhigang (Will) Tian, P.Eng.

Associate Professor Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta

Dr. Zhigang (Will) Tian is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, University of Alberta, Edmonton, Canada. He has more than 10 years experience in teaching, research, and development in the areas of reliability engineering, maintenance optimization, and engineering asset management. He received the 2011 Petro-Canada Young Innovator Award. He is an Associate Editor of International Journal of Performability Engineering and serves as Vice President for the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, and Safety Professionals Society (RAMSP). Dr. Tian has worked with many industry partners and government agencies on projects in the field of reliability, maintenance, and asset management. These projects are in collaboration with companies from various industries, such as aerospace, manufacturing, renewable energy, biotechnology, etc. Dr. Tian has published more than 60 papers in refereed journals and conference proceedings and has contributed six book chapters to several edited books.
