Over the last 10 years sensor-based ore sorting technologies have undergone a revolution in accuracy and capacity. This presentation will discuss state of the art technology in ore sorting including XRF, XRT, EM, NIR, UV, Optical and other sensors. All manufacturers and vendors are included in the presentation. Financial benefits to new and existing mining projects are discussed, as well as impacts on grade recovery and mine production. There will be 4 examples from our 16 recent projects. The presentation concludes with examples of ore sorting plants we have designed and built around the world.

About the Presenter

Brent Hilscher, P.Eng., has over 16 years of experience in mining and mineral processing. He has operated and supervised mineral processing plants, published papers, patented technologies, and been a speaker at over a dozen conferences and universities. Brent has led design, and construction projects for Teck, Goldcorp, New Gold, Barrick, Xstrata, Agnico Eagle, and many others. He won the National CMP Bill Moore Award for technical excellence in 2013. Because of his technical reputation Brent has been consulted as a senior advisor for World Bank and NASA mining research projects.

Brent has volunteered as an executive for both the CIM and CMP. Brent currently leads the Sacre-Davey Engineering mining group who have grown to become one of the largest mining process engineering teams in Western Canada with 35 mining projects completed in the last 2 years.
