Enter Microsoft OneNote, a powerful information organizer that makes it possible to find what you need when you need it.

Overview

More than just another file manager, OneNote gathers documents, drawings, articles, screen clippings, audio and video commentaries, etc., into one or more digital notebooks. It’s especially good for collaboration, providing easy access to shared data and keeping track of multiple author changes. Best of all, you don’t have to change your current digital file hierarchy or structure. Simply insert the link into the OneNote page.

Whether you work alone or with a team, OneNote keeps essential data at your fingertips. You will end up with smarter work practices and more time to focus on what really matters, on and off the job.

Outcomes

  • You’ll learn how to use OneNote as a virtual library without changing the file structure of your original data.
  • You’ll understand the differences and applications of OneNote 2016 and the OneNote 365 App.
  • You be able to keep track of good ideas and then recover their details whenever you want.
  • You’ll know how to create, edit, organize, and apply OneNote notebooks, pages, notes, sections, section groups, tags and templates.
  • You’ll learn how to record audio/video media for later playback, verifying your notes by linking them (as they’re typed or written) to the exact time they were discussed in the recording.
  • You’ll use OneNote’s powerful indexed search feature to find anything you previously inserted in your notebooks—even images, pdfs, and handwriting. Nothing gets lost again.
  • You’ll understand the process of customizing the OneNote interface in a manner that makes sense to you personally.
  • You’ll know how to link notes to external files such as documents, workbooks, presentation slides, Outlook appointments and tasks, even web pages.
  • You’ll be able to directly capture information from Word or PowerPoint without hassle.
  • You know how to share documents with team members using OneNote as the collaborative interface.
  • You’ll be able copy and paste text directly from images and pdfs into documents for editing.

This course goes way beyond the basic “talking points” lecture by encouraging active participation, insight, and problem-solving.

Included in the presentation will be documentation to support the material, practice files, and technical and online references. Laptops are not required however participants will get more out of the session if they follow along using their own computers.
