This session will explore the requirement for the professional of record to conduct field reviews, or to have them conducted under the direct supervision.

Seminar Description

What is a field review? Are all engineering and geoscience professionals required to carry out field reviews? This session will explore the requirement for the professional of record to conduct field reviews, or to have them conducted under the direct supervision. Furthermore we will look at the direct supervision requirements for field reviews or any other professional work delegated to a subordinate.

Presenters

Lindsay Steele, P.Geo.

Associate Director of Professional Practice, Engineers and Geoscientists BC

As Associate Director of Professional Practice, Lindsay Steele is responsible for the development and management of the association's professional practice and quality management guidelines, practice advice services, and the OQM Program. In addition, Ms. Steele oversees the association’s professional practice committees and working groups.

Ms. Steele is a registered professional geoscientist with extensive experience in mining and mineral exploration. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree with Advanced Major in Earth Sciences from St. Francis Xavier University. Her past roles include Project Geologist and General Manager of Geotechnical Services for a mineral exploration company, as well as Junior Mine Geologist for the Rabbit Lake uranium mine in Saskatchewan. Since joining the association in 2015, Ms. Steele has achieved certification as an ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, which has enabled her to take on a primary role in audits and training carried out under Engineers and Geoscientists BC's Organizational Management Program.

Kelly Dayman, Eng.L.

Manager, Organizational Quality Management, Engineers and Geoscientists BC

As the manager of the Organizational Quality Management (OQM) program at Engineers and Geoscientists BC. Mr. Dayman is responsible for all aspects of the OQM program including training, certification, and auditing.

Mr. Dayman is a registered professional with both ASTTBC and Engineers and Geoscientists BC, and is qualified as an ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor. He has over 20 years experience in consulting, manufacturing and quality management which has enabled Kelly to bring a practical approach to the implementation of the OQM program and supporting Engineers and Geoscientists BC members.
