Deployment of high technology equipment to new environments requires many considerations prior to successful implementation. To highlight this example, Jeff Grass will discuss how in water treatment has remained "low-tech" while biomedical equipment and their associated power needs has increased considerably.

The 2014 Ebola epidemic saw many changes and optimizations to existing Ebola treatment protocols. Jeff will focus on facility design and, if time permits, ultra cold vaccine management.

About the Speaker

Jeff Grass is a civil engineer currently working in the geotechnical site investigation industry in Western Canada. He has eight years of experience working in emergency response humanitarian interventions as a logistician throughout Africa, the Middle East and Europe. Most of these interventions were a result of conflict, displacement, epidemics or poverty. While much of his work focused on construction, water and sanitation, there was also a large component to his work in energy distribution, supply chain management and security management.
