Tour of Ruskin Dam and Powerhouse

PPE is required: Steel toe boots, safety glasses, hi-vis vest (we have a limited number on site), and a hard hat (we have a limited number on site).
Please join the Tri-City Branch of Engineers and Geoscientists BC for a tour of the Ruskin Dam and Powerhouse.

Presentation Details

Staff from BC Hydro will be presenting and guiding attendees along the tour. This will include:

  • Safety orientation
  • History of project
  • Project safety
    • Work protection practices
    • Site safety coordination
    • Incident reporting
  • Tour of right abutment works
  • Tour of dam
  • Tour of left abutment works
  • Powerhouse roof to take pictures of dam and Edison lightbulb (this bulb’s been burning continuously for about 90 years!)
  • Tour of powerhouse
    • Restricted to service bay area only since fire retardant attire is required to walk into rest of powerhouse

Attendees need to bring the following:

  • Steel toe boots
  • Safety glasses
  • Hi-Vis vest (we have limited number on site)
  • Hard hat (we have limited number on site)
