This event is part of National Engineering and Geoscience Month (NEGM); an annual celebration of engineering and geoscience across Canada. The goal of this event is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life. Cost and Materials

Bridge Kits cost $5.00 each, including contest entry. You may use only the materials provided in the kits (i.e.,100 Popsicle sticks and 1 bottle of White glue Bridges) can be used to build bridges. Kits can be purchased at the locations listed below. If paying cash, please bring the exact amount.

  • Nelson: SNC Lavalin, #3 - 520 Lake Street
  • Castlegar: Ready Engineering, 1402 Columbia Ave.
  • Trail: SNC-Lavalin, 1319 Bay Ave., Austin Engineering 875 Farwell St.
  • Creston: Linda Farinowski at Wildflower School (in Prince Charles Secondary)
  • Grand Forks: City of Grand Forks, 7425 5th Street
  • Greenwood: Beverley Roy, Greenwood Elementary School

Contest Categories

  • Ages 8 and under
  • Ages 9–12
  • Ages 13–18
  • Unlimited category (includes contest organizers and their families, teachers, and anyone over
    18). Sorry, no prize money.
