The Tri-City Branch of Engineers and Geoscientists BC is hosting an annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition in Coquitlam. Join us for an informative, fun-filled event aimed at promoting engineering and geoscience in our community and especially to the youth.

About the Event


As part of the NEGM celebrations, the Tri-City Branch is hosting the Annual Popsicle Stick Bridge Building Competition. The goal of this event is to promote the awareness of the engineering and geoscience professions, showcase career choices, and the many ways in which engineering and geoscience relate to our everyday life. BMP Engineering and Port Moody Rock and Gem Club will be co-hosting the Earthquake/Seismic Structure and Geology classes for the students.

Event Schedule

  • 9:30 AM–10:00 AM: Registration for bridges (Grade K–12)
  • 10:00 AM–11:30 AM: Bridge Testing for Grade K–5
  • 10:00 AM–11:00 AM: Earthquake/Seismic Structure Class (Grade 9–12)
  • 11:00 AM–12:00 PM: Geology Class (Grade 9–12)
  • 11:30 AM–1:00 PM: Bridge Testing for Grade 6–8
  • 11:45 AM–12:00 PM: Awards for Grade K–5
  • 1:00 PM–2:00 PM: Earthquake/Seismic Structure Class (Grade K–8)
  • 1:00 PM–2:30 PM: Bridge Testing for Grade 9–12
  • 1:15 PM–1:30 PM: Awards for Grade 6–8
  • 2:00 PM–3:00 PM: Geology Class for (Grade K–8)
  • 2:45 PM–3:00 PM: Awards for Grade 9–12
  • 3:30 PM–4:00 PM: Closing
